Our Studies

Human:
Inhalation of jasmine essential oil has been associated with improved sleep quality and reductions in anxiety in human trials.¹ Studies report enhanced relaxation and parasympathetic activation, aligning with the body’s natural transition into rest.² Jasmine aroma has also been shown to influence melatonin secretion and GABAergic activity, both key pathways in the initiation of sleep.³ EEG recordings during jasmine exposure demonstrate increases in slow-wave (delta) brain activity, consistent with deep, restorative sleep.⁴

Preclinical:
Animal studies suggest jasmine’s key compounds (e.g., benzyl acetate, linalool) act on GABA receptors, the same inhibitory pathways targeted by many sleep-promoting medications.⁵ These effects support its traditional use as a sedative and align with emerging data showing increased melatonin release in the presence of floral volatiles.⁶

Caftari Luxury and purpose

"This is the perfect candle to bring a sense of calm and serenity to our open houses. We love giving them away in our drawings as a great way to collect contact information- people don’t make fictitious sign ins for the candle ;-)"

Smells great and such a nice jar.

"I know why this is called a nidra candle. The scent is heavenly. It's a subtle jasmine scent that makes you relax and want to curl up with a good book. The wax is coconut which I appreciate. But there is no scent of coconut. The jar is a ceramic jar with almost invisible markings on it. There is a wave of lines around the bottom, and the writing on the top. It does say Nidra towards the bottom, which means sleep and it is meant to help you fall asleep. It would be great to have at Yoga class at the end when we relax and let the stress of the day leave us. The color of the jar is a gorgeous slate color. It is burning so slow I can't wait to use the jar for something nice, like a succulent. It would even be good to hold pencils, the perfect size. I am really enjoying this candle and look forward to lighting it every evening after dinner."

High Quality

"I have always been intriged by scented candles but the ones I get always seem to be too overwhelming or the scent is not pleasing. I have seen more expensive ones but I never got them because I didn't think they were worth the higher cost. I decided to try this one because of the presentation of how it is made was interesting and of course the ingredients that are used impressed me also. Right away I could smell a difference even before I lit it. I put it in a small alcove of the main floor bathroom of my 1908 Victorian house and unlit it already emenated a nice aroma. I am buring it now for a little while and that fragrence is differnt but also nice. I think it is well worth the high price, like they say, "You get what you pay for. ""

Nidra is very calming

"I’ve been using the Caftari’s Nidra Candle for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say it’s made a noticeable difference in my nighttime routine. The scent of jasmine is beautifully calming—soft and obviously floral. It fills the room with a gentle aroma that instantly helps me unwind after a long day. What I love most is how quickly it sets a peaceful atmosphere. Within minutes of lighting it, I feel more relaxed and grounded. I’ve also noticed that I fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer on nights when I use it. It pairs wonderfully with a good book or meditation session before bed. The candle burns evenly and lasts quite a while, which is a bonus. Plus, the packaging is elegant and looks great on my nightstand. If you’re looking for a natural way to improve your sleep quality or just want to add a bit of tranquility to your evenings, I highly recommend this jasmine candle. It’s become a small but essential part of my self-care routine."

Q&A

FAQ

  • Nidra was formulated specifically to support sleep. Its hero ingredient, jasmine essential oil, has been shown in research to act on GABA receptors (the same calming pathways targeted by many sleep aids) and to support natural melatonin release. The scent encourages delta brainwave activity, associated with deep restorative sleep.

  • Light Nidra about 30–60 minutes before bed and let it burn for at least two hours during your wind-down. This gives the scent time to circulate and gives your nervous system time to associate it with rest. Always extinguish the candle before falling asleep.

  • Yes, and we encourage it. Nidra works best as a nightly ritual: the more consistently you light it during your wind-down, the more powerfully your brain associates the scent with sleep (a phenomenon called scent-state conditioning)
